callassists.com Flagged as a Clone of Call Assist: Check Before You Reply

Call Assist Limited is a genuine, authorised firm, and the FCA states plainly that it has no connection with the people using its name. What the impersonators have built is a website address that looks almost identical to the firm's own, together with two matching email addresses.

The FCA's record

The FCA records that fraudsters are contacting people while presenting themselves as Call Assist Limited, Firm Reference Number 304838, and that the genuine firm has no connection with them.

The FCA lists the website callassists.com and the email addresses contact@callassists.com and hr@callassists.com as details used by the impersonators. It adds that they may give out other false details and mix them with the genuine firm's own.

The FCA gives the genuine firm's address as Axis Court, North Station Road, Colchester, CO1 1UX, with the telephone number 01206 771771. The firm's entry on the FCA Register lists its website as www.call-assist.co.uk.

What this means for clients of the genuine firm

Anyone who pays the impersonators is not dealing with Call Assist, so the payment carries none of the protection an authorised firm provides, including access to the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

If a bank transfer has already been made to them on or after 7 October 2024, contact the bank that sent the payment straight away, because reimbursement may be available under the Payment Systems Regulator's rules.

The two addresses differ by very little: the clone drops the hyphen, adds an s and ends in .com rather than .co.uk, which is easy to miss when an email is read quickly on a phone. Because the impersonators may also use other details, the safest way to confirm any message in the firm's name is to call Call Assist on 01206 771771, the number the FCA holds, and ask whether the message came from them.
